This is a very early reminder to put the annual Moonambel Gathering into your 2024 Diary.
Plans are in the very early stage but if you have any interest in HF Radio and travelling, then this social weekend is for you.
Moonambel is not far from Avoca in Victoria and the gathering has been going for well in excess of 20 years.
Are you with VKS-737, an Amateur Radio Operator or just someone with an interest in radio? Yes? Then give this weekend serious consideration.
It usually runs on the third weekend in October with people arriving from Thursday and some staying beyond the weekend.
You need to be fully self contained. Excellent toilet and shower facilities are on-site.
Put it on your Bucket List for this year!

Once again the annual gathering at Moonambel will be happening, on the third weekend in October, that is over the weekend of 20th and 21st. Many arrive as early as Thursday or Friday and stay until after the weekend.
It’s an annual get together for anyone with an interest in HF Radio. Don’t forget to wrap up something (anything) to be given away on the Saturday evening raffle draw. Just $1.00 a ticket, happening after we enjoy tea together. There’s always a good fire to sit around and exchange stories.
Bring your own everything. Toilets and showers are available at the Sports Ground, a little on the Avoca side of the Moonambel township.

Moonambel Gathering Is Back On!

Yep! After a hiatus caused essentially by the Pandemic, the annual Moonambel Gathering will be celebrating its 21st year, back in its original home, the Moonambel Sports Ground near Avoca in Victoria.

It will be the weekend of 15th and 16th October. People can arrive from the 13th and stay until the 17th. This is a thoroughly recommended get-together and a must visit as part of your traveling calendar this year.

This is early notice. Put it in your diary and make sure you’re there…

Sadly, for the first time since the inception of the annual Moonambel Gathering many years ago, the Committee that organizes the gathering has made the painful decision to cancel the gathering for 2020.
Let’s hope that things have settled down next year and we can enjoy a wonderful weekend together. In the meantime, please enjoy some of the pictures below, taken from past gatherings.

The 2019 Moonambel social gathering as in previous years  will be held over two days at the Moonambel Recreation reserve on the weekend of October 19th & 20th 2019.

The 18th annual gathering has a prime location being situated prior to the entrance of the township of Moonambel. We are able to provide both bush camping and some limited powered sites. Firewood is supplied for a centrally located fire used as a gathering (Happy Hour) or cooking area.
Moonambel Township is within walking distance with excellent services to visitors and the district provides outstanding recreational 4WD driving for those wishing to partake in this activity. Alternatively, you may wish to visit one of the many great wineries in the area. We invite all HF radio enthusiasts and their friends to our gathering to share your knowledge, join in the weekend activities and just generally enjoy socialising and having a great time.
